Matthew Malencia, advised by Professor George Pappas, works as a Senior Technical Project Manager at Exyn Technologies.
In this capacity, Malencia acts as a key stakeholder and executor in product strategy definition. “I combine a deep technical understanding of our engineering capabilities with empathetic problem solving of our customers’ needs to lead product development and roadmaps,” Malencia explains.
Malencia’s time at Penn played a pivotal role in preparing him for his current role.
“My research at Penn in optimization, planning, and automated decision making algorithms gave me deep technical insight into the methods we use at Exyn Technologies.” Malenica explains, “Additionally, my PhD gave me the skills to research and understand the state of the art in robotics systems and methods. These skills are necessary in my role in order to identify new research that we can leverage to improve our existing product and create new solutions.”
When Malencia’s not working, he enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, and rock climbing.
