Vinami Shah applied the educational foundation she received at Penn to her summer internship at AlphaSights in New York City. As an SE Senior, Shah appreciated how the internship provided her with a multitude of transfererable skills.
“Systems Engineering has taught me how to think logically, approach ambiguity, and break down complex problems,” Shah explains, adding, “I definitely applied these skills at AlphaSights, and I know I’ll carry them with me for the rest of my career.”
Interning at AlphaSights, also gave Shah also the opportunity to enhance her softer skills. This proved particularly true when working with people and negotiation. “I learned to better understand what makes people tick, adapt my approach to different personalities and levels of seniority, and communicate effectively with everyone from industry experts to C-suite executives.”
The internship experience at AlphaSights allowed Shah to become “more comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects at once, and constantly reprioritizing as client needs changed.”
In short, the transferrable skills Shah gained at AlphaSights, “will serve me well as I begin my career in consulting after graduation, as well as in my longer-term interest in entrepreneurship.”
When Shah isn’t working, she enjoys fitness, exploring new cafes and neighborhoods, as well as listening to podcasts.
