SSE Undergraduate Spotlight: Ben Kogan

Ben Kogan worked two internships last summer. The first at METIS Design Corp. The second at Nia Therapeutics, a startup focused on designing and implementing brain implants targeting memory loss.

At the METIS Design Corp, Kogan “assisted the material science team with core research on carbon fiber curing processes and conducted work on scientific machinery as well as testing using a Microfiber Electrospinner.”

Throughout Kogan’s third summer at Nia Therapeutics, Kogan tested pre-clinical units and presented tentative, self-developed solutions to hardware issues.”I also assisted in manufacturing and verification of medical device equipment, including soldering and electrical rework,” Kogan explained.

For Kogan, both summer internships “were pivotal in helping to guide my decision of both what to major in and focus on at Penn.”

To that end, Kogan is happy to talk about either internship opportunities with any interested Penn students.
